Title: Evolution and Genetics concept mapping
Description: The students will construct a concept map which indicates the most important elements of evolution. They should include, but are not limited to, the structure of DNA being related to the genetic inheritance, gene variation, natural selection, and mutations.
Time Required usually about 2-3 class periods depending upon depth of research
Topics: Evolution involving: dna structure, gene variation, natural selection, mutations
Course: High School/middle school General Biology
Prerequisites Skills: Know how to construct an effective concept map.
Learning Objectives: The student will be able to: 1) explain how eveolution relates to genetics, 2) define natural selection and its function 3) explain how DNA as a whole (structure, function) is related to evolution, 4) explain how mutations effect evolution
